My Coaching Philosophy

“As to the methods there may be a million and then some, but principles are few. The man who grasps principles can successfully select his own methods. The man who tries methods, ignoring principles, is sure to have trouble."   -  Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)

This one quotation summarizes my entire coaching philosophy.  Poker is changing at light speed.  Methods that worked even a few years ago don’t show much of a profit any more, and players that aren’t adjusting are finding themselves struggling to break even.

I visit Las Vegas regularly, and I've noticed an important trend recently -- more mixed games (such as H.O.R.S.E.) are being spread, even at lower stakes tables. I wonder if in a few years we’ll see nothing but mixed games being dealt, and where will you be if you don’t understand the principles and were only taught a few methods for winning at hold’em?

Then why do I only coach hold’em?

At the present time I only coach NL hold’em, simply because it is by far the most popular poker game being played. And you didn’t come here for a philosophy lesson, you came here to make money. So we’ll work on maximizing your hold’em profit, but stressing the principles so that you’re ready when that day comes and hold’em is no longer king. To summarize, we’ll work on:

  1. The strategies and tactics that lead to championship NL Hold’em play; stressing the principles behind these.
  2. Applying these techniques at the table to achieve the ultimate (and only!) goal: making the most money and dominating your opponents.

Again, I want to highlight #2: While I coach for the love of the game, I don’t require you to share that love. At the end of the day, my only goal is to put you in a position to win as much money as possible. And to hopefully give you the foundation to continue to make money even as the poker world evolves.

If you're ready to play the best poker of your life, don't wait, request coaching now.
